Disaster Insurance for Fires, Floods and Earthquakes

Disaster Insurance

Be Prepared for The Unexpected

McCartin offers several types of disaster insurance in addition to your home insurance coverage including flood insurance, fire insurance, and earthquake insurance.

Flood Insurance Coverage

Flood InsuranceFloods are not typically covered by standard homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policies. A flood can cause significant damage to your home and property in just a little time. Damage to basements includes ruined appliances and HVAC systems. Flooding can lead to mold and mildew problems that can make a home unliveable. Over the 30-year term of a typical mortgage, there is a 3 times greater chance of having a flood in your home than having a fire.

Flood damage can happen no matter where a home, apartment or business is located. Buy flood insurance, even if your property is not located in a flood plain. Some homeowners may be required to purchase flood insurance by their mortgage lenders.

We offer flood insurance for almost any building and its contents, including rental property and condominiums. Renters can buy protection for their belongings as well.

Fire Insurance Coverage

Fire InsuranceFire insurance is included in homeowner’s insurance, and it covers the cost of replacement and repair or reconstruction above what the homeowner’s insurance policy already covers. Fire insurance policies cover property damage, and may also cover damage to nearby structures, personal property and living expenses while the property is being repaired because of fire. Fire insurance endorsements add on to the value coverage limits for personal property such as furs, jewelry and musical instruments.

Earthquake Insurance

Earthquake insurance is a type of home and property insurance that pays the policyholder in the event of an earthquake that causes damage. Most ordinary homeowner’s insurance policies don’t cover earthquake damage. Total loss claims from fires are common, but they’re rare with earthquakes.

Consider if your state is vulnerable to earthquakes. Every state has experienced earthquakes. For example, Oklahoma had more earthquakes than California in 2015. The cost of coverage varies depending on where you live. Contact us for more information or a quote.
